Pros:
Great Salesperson (George). Friendly. Knowledgeable about roofs. Real smooth talking. Very likable. Sold us both on the spot.
Lots of Nice Looking Brochures Given To Us.
George talks many times and very highly of "HIS CREW".
The Installed Roof Looks Very Nice.
|
|
Cons:
The long cracks in our ceilings, that the roof installers caused, looks terrible.
Customer Service After The Sale. There is none.
"HIS CREW" is not his crew. The roofing crew that installs George's roofs is sub-contracted. They operate under a different company name.
Licensed. We don't know. No info was ever given to us about this.
Insured. George's Property Damage Insurance Company told us Property Damage Insurance does not apply in this case, because George sub-contracted out the job to another roofing company.
Bonded. George's Property Damage Insurance Company told us that this also does not apply in this case, because George sub-contracted out the job to another roofing company.

Were we deceived by George?:
We don't know; but, this is a question my husband and I keep asking each other.
A) George said over and over it was his crew. The roofing crew that installs George's roofs are sub-contracted. They operate under a different company name.
B) Licensed. We don't know. No info was ever given to us about this.
C) George's insurance is not responsible to cover anything. George sold us on he was Bonded and Insured.
D) George did not provide us with "Proof of Insurance" papers before, or after, the job started.
E) George did not provide us with "Workman's Compensation Insurance" papers before, or after, the job started.

The Sub-Contracted Roofing Crew:
SP Drywall & More LLC.
Santos Peinado, foreman
There were 15 men and women on the Roofing Crew. All of them were extremely nice, polite and hard working. My husband and I offered to buy everyone lunch that day, but George turned our offer down.

The Roof:
CertainTeed Roof Shingles
77 lb Bundles
|
|
Damage To Our House:
6 to 8 foot long Cracks in the middle of the textured ceiling, in the middle of the house, From one end of the house, all the way to the other end.
Rooms With Cracked Ceilings:
Family Room (17-ft Ceiling)
Upstairs Hallway
Foyer (17-ft Ceiling)
Master Bedroom
Kitchen
Garage (17-ft Ceiling)

|
How Our House Got Damaged:
Instead of using a Ladder Hoist, (We saw them use one across the street on another job.), to transport the approximately ninety six (96), 77 pound bundles of Shingles up to the roof, the crew carried them up by hand 2 stories and dropped them on the roof peek, in piles. Dropping a 77 pound weight, from your shoulder approximately 5 feet high, makes a huge bang on the roof. Such that, it caused the ceiling to bow downwards, cracking the ceiling drywall, from one end of the house to the other.
If you use a Ladder Hoist, you don't put the shingle bundle on your shoulder. You carry it. It is a real short walk. We also observed this across the street on that job.
In our opinion, inside the house, it sounded like huge boulders dropping from the sky, hitting the roof. It was really really loud. The jolts were so big they told us something is not right here. We have been through two other roofs, on two other houses, and have never heard anything this loud and this jolting. We thought the house was going to come apart at any second.

The Fix:
The Drywall People will repair the cracks and texture. The Painting People will come in after and paint the ceilings. Both, the Drywall People and the Painting People, want to protect our walls and floors by covering all of the walls and floors with plastic. Also, because the ceilings are 17-ft high, all of the contractors say scaffolding is needed. ALL of the furniture has to be removed from the rooms being repaired. These people don't want to take the chance of spilling a bucket of paint or drywall mud on our furniture, artwork or pets. All of the furniture in the house that has to be moved, is being stored in the only open spaces available, which is our living room, bedrooms 2, 3 and 4, laundry room, and two of our bathrooms. Like anyone, we only have so much space. When they are done, the Furniture People will move the furniture back. Then, the Cleaning People will come in and clean the Drywall Dust from the entire house. Drywall dust makes a huge mess. Then, we move back in.
|
|
Hotel and Kennel:
The Drywall People and the Painting People have both determined there is physically no space for a family and 6 pets to live here while the repairs are taking place. We can not live in the plastic and drywall dust. They will not allow that. They are not going to take the chance of a bad accident with someone or a pet. All rooms not being repaired, are packed with the furniture that the Furniture Movers moved. We can't even do the laundry. It will be packed too. We just don't have the space. There are a lot of repairs.

Price Increases:
It has been almost 2 years now. Every business, everywhere, has raised their prices due to higher costs. (Name a business that hasn't?) We project somewhere between 10% to 25% price increases on all labor, materials and boarding.

Donna Garrett called us, on 11-08-2022 at 11:15 am, and said the Property Damage Insurance does not apply in this case. No coverage. Because George sub-contracted out the job to another roofing company. And, that was all there was to it. Her company was done with this case. And then said, Goodbye.
Our Experience with Donna Garrett was extremely unpleasant.
This lady was very rude right from the beginning, and made many insensitive remarks to us. It made no sense. The insurance company was not responsible for anything. Why was this lady acting this way? Why was she being so mean? And, every phone call (there were a dozen of them) was the same way, rude, mean and insensitive remarks.

Tiffany Burnfield emailed us, on 1-27-2023 at 4:59 pm, with Cody's Repair Estimate and Release Form.
Total Repair Estimate for Everything = $ 1176.44 This is less than 6% of the estimated total repair costs needed.
My husband and I got the estimates from the contractors that will actually be doing the repairs.
My husband and I asked two questions to Cody Markle;
1) Will you repair our house for that amount? Cody's Answer: "No".
2) Do you know ANYONE that will repair our house for that amount? Cody's Answer: "No".

Why are we doing this now?:
We contacted George four (4) days after the roof was installed, to show him the damage his install crew did to our house. He said "Please don't worry Mr. and Mrs. ******, I will take care of this" to me and my husband. Our lawyers have been going back and forth ever since. We're sick of this. Prices on everything are still going up. Our house needs fixed now. It has been over 2 years now.

Trying To Force Us To Take A 1/3 Settlement:
These pictures were taken outside of the courtroom we were all just in. George and his 3 lawyers are trying to force
my husband and I to except a 1/3 settlement for our house repairs. What do we do about the other 2/3 of the repairs?
His truck says "Rated #1 on Google", For what? It surely can not be for his customer service.
If so, then what in the heck are we doing in court?

All We Ever Wanted:
Money to get our house repaired that got damaged.
Reimbursed for all expenses that have incurred because of this problem.
Reimbursed for time lost off of work because of this problem.
Goodwill Compensation for the huge inconvenience we have been put through. This has been awful.

Our Opinion:
We wish we hired a different roofing company!!
